A Culinary Delight

This is what being an entrepreneur woman is like in Mexico

We decided to speak more calmly and ask Karla Paniagua for her testimony, so that she can tell us about the effect that these initiatives have on the mindset of women entrepreneurs. Karla is an enterprising woman who works as a workshop assistant at Dalia Empower's Women for Board.

Dalia Empower is a training community, whose experiences lead you to identify your resources. We all have knowledge, skills, and a network of relationships, but sometimes we don't know how to put these elements together to put them to work for us. Dalia lets you learn how to do that.

What are the challenges that I have faced as a woman in the professional field? I worked for several years in a very masculine environment, where there were few professional women. More than once a colleague asked me to bring him coffee because I was the only woman in the room or he made a comment about my piercings and tattoos. The experience helped me to develop a double bulletproof film armor, which to date protects me.

In Dalia I have heard similar stories from women I admire. That has given me peace of mind, a sense of belonging and confidence in my actions.

For her part, Leticia Jauregui, founder of CREA, knows closely the challenges that women entrepreneurs must overcome in our country:

In Mexico, millions of women entrepreneurs face daily challenges to be able to access new markets, manage their businesses in a professional way or even to take advantage of technological tools in their company. At CREA we have collaborated with women like Mari Silvia, who works with women from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

Through digital training, today Mari has a Facebook page through which she has been able to grow her sales substantially and participate in business events. This has permissible her to travel to different countries to present her products and talk about the Itsmeño women who work with her.

For Ale Perea, from Victoria 147, it has been essential to break the idea of women are competition:

I think there are many myths around that women cannot work together or we are not able to help each other. During my time in Victoria147 my perspective on this has changed a lot. I am part of a team made up mostly of women, who take care of each other personally and push ourselves to achieve professional goals.

[…] We have created a platform where female entrepreneurs inspire each other, dare to share their mistakes and learnings, are able to ask for help and celebrate their victories, where each one discovers how to give voice to their ideas and build projects together that have an economic impact on society.
